Our story: from a practical idea to salt specialists
Salt Giant was born from a simple idea: salt is essential, but finding the right type, in the right quantity, delivered to your door, shouldn't be a hassle. What began as a small venture in 2012 quickly grew into a serious business with a clear mission: to supply reliable rock salt and salt products to thousands of households and businesses across the UK and Europe.
In 2012 we sold our very first pallet of rock salt. The success of those early orders gave us the confidence to invest further and continuously expand our range.
Before long we added water softener salt to our range. This kept homes running smoothly with soft, scale-free water all year round. Ice melt followed, giving customers a faster-acting option for the coldest, most demanding winter conditions. Pool salt completed the range, meeting the growing demand for low-maintenance, saltwater pool care.

How do rock salt, ice melt, water softener salt and pool salt differ?
The main differences lie in purpose and how each product works:
- Rock salt is a coarse, BS 3247-certified de-icing salt for roads, pavements and driveways. Ideal for spreading before or during freezing conditions.
- Ice melt acts faster than standard rock salt and works at lower temperatures. Perfect for quickly clearing paths, steps and entrances.
- Water softener salt removes the hardness from your water supply, protecting appliances and pipework from limescale build-up.
- Pool salt is dissolved in saltwater pools to power a salt chlorinator, giving you cleaner, softer water with less maintenance than traditional chlorine.

How does pallet and bulk delivery work, and where can the driver deliver?
Pallet and bulk bag orders are delivered via a professional logistics network. (Mini) pallets are delivered by a lorry or flatbed vehicle and placed as close as possible to your preferred location using a pallet truck, provided the ground is solid and accessible.
You can always specify a preferred drop-off location when placing your order. The driver will assess what is safe and practical. If you are unsure whether we can deliver to your address, please feel free to contact us!
Do you offer returns or exchanges for damaged items?
Yes! If something has gone wrong with your delivery or a product has arrived damaged, we will always resolve it with you fairly. You can return the product within 14 days of receipt, provided it is in the same condition. Returns or exchanges for incorrectly delivered or damaged products are always free of charge.
